Dreamscape

Supine, I fold my body
nose to knees, swivel
to perch on the edge
of the bed and the well
of dreams dissolves
into the present.
The harder I clutch
at the chimera,
the faster it fades,
jumbled mirror shards
glued together, reflections
of the dead and the living,
surreal scenes, source of
the déjà vu that occasionally
surfaces like a whale
breaching for air, reminding
me I must accept what
I don't understand to go on.
