The Good News or, How I Lost My Faith and Saved My Soul
When I read the "synoptic" gospels" (meaning the first three, without John's), I find portraits of a living, breathing, flawed human being. When Jesus rejects the plea of a gentile woman to cure her child, he says, "I don't cure dogs." Undeterred, the woman says that sometimes her children feed their own dog under the table. Jesus relents, maybe the only time he ever showed any sense of humor. I see him smirking at the woman's cleverness.

Maisel and Hacks: Twins Separated at Late Show
Maybe that's how I got hooked on Girl TV. It's just that I watch more of it than my wife does. In any case, my Girl TV taste is a little embarrassing. I can justify Never Have I Ever, Emily in Paris, and Kitty XO because they have Asian main characters, something I didn't get to see growing up. I may be the only adult senior citizen who's ever watched Alexa and Katie or The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia, but I'll never confess to it in person. The world doesn't need to know that I have some inner TV-watching girl controlling my remote.
