Bliss

A face in the public domain

Bliss

When that white-hot star shines brightly
right on my face
through a cold winter's day
I imagine myself wrapped up tightly
head to toe
prone on a deck chair
soaking up rays
in the back garden
of a sanitarium.

"Here for the rest cure,"
I say
smiling serenely
drunk on bliss
and three kinds of pills.

No agenda, save for
saving my sanity,
finding my lost
sense of self.

Figures in white come and go
slowly, silently
so as not to disturb
recovery in progress.

How long will it take?
One never knows.
