Voice

for Jordan

Dusk, crackling with life, calls out
in opulence, in truth. Before the
obsidian night unfurls its stars, it
kicks off each sandal to swap for
dancing shoes. Joy lifts the weight of
time into the air like sands, translucent
except by the fire, where it is all laid plain:
our moments swirl and rise and move
until they are gone
like a song you once loved deeply
and set free to flourish in the dark.
