Dear Neighbor
This is just to say that I woke
This morning, drawing the blind
To see your garbage there strewn
Down your driveway and across
The street and across my lawn.
It is obvious that some sow bear
Has mistaken you for Bob Dylan
Or was just doing that which
Bears do, crashing your trash—
For trash appeal trash is hard to beat.
All those plastic-wrapped ready-to-eat
Treats, meats and sweets and such,
Garbage she would, normally, barely
Touch. The temptation too hard to bear.
