Experiment in Democracy

We swim round in our Petri dish,
Petri dish, Petri dish.
Single cells in soupy dish,
Dividing and a'swarming.

We peer up through the periscope,
Periscope, periscope.
An eye glares down the periscope,
Baleful and alarming.

Once it seemed like Paradise,
Paradise, Paradise.
But something's foul in Paradise
Our soup seems to be warming.

Some of us are pathogens,
pathogens, pathogens.
Some are warrior pathogens.
And some content with spawning.

We have a vague hypothesis,
Hypothesis, hypothesis.
Our leader should be one of us:
An alpha. Male and charming,

Who makes a lot of promises,
Promises, promises.
We like the thrill of promises
That satisfy our yearning.

His slogan is e pluribus,
e pluribus, e pluribus.
He says we are the pluribus
And he a mighty unum

Who'll fix for us a cleaner dish,
Less crowded dish, a calmer dish
That satisfies our every wish.
A whiter dish for swimming.

There may be pain initially.
Initially there has to be.
But it will pass and all will see
A glorious future dawning.

For war is like an omelette,
An omelette, an omelette.
You have to break some heads, you bet,
If you would go a'warring.

We march here in our Petri dish,
Little fish, swishy swish.
It's pushups in the Petri dish,
Early every morning.

We swim round in our Petri dish,
Booted fish, badass fish.
We'll blast out of this Petri dish.
Quick war and soon returning.
