Super Crows

"800 Super" roaring through rain-streaked dawn,
white truck stencilled in red, scattering mynas
riverdancing on macadam; scavengers skulking,
dicing with death by tyre for today's pickings:
epicurean detritus scrunched in paper and foil,
beer bottles and cider, soggy gastronomic curios
from yesterday's discarded feasts, compacted
with a dolorous whine. Mobile avian buffet

; at the intersection, ruminating.

Twin crows perch atop the steel beast
and its yawning belly, castigating the mynas;
joyriding goth birds taking to the albino sky
as lights flip to radiant emerald. And returning—
rolling boulder, feathered moss. I remain
in first gear, plodding behind the rubbish truck
"Turning trash to treasure!"; machine adagio
harvesting the urban dreamscape, one estate
at a time. Watching the maw close again
and again on me, super crows surf the sun.
