The Cosmology of Ignorance

Meanwhile, in Catholic schools, at least some of them, the priests and nuns stopped talking as much about "sins against purity," i.e., sex, and began to emphasize love as a major, even dispositive, factor in male-female relations (who knew?). Some sermons or spiritual talks in those days sounded more like New Age meditations than standard Catholic indoctrination. Even clergy caught the emancipating virus. Priests and nuns left their vows in significant numbers, sometimes as a result of falling in love with each other.

Spring

As someone who was alive when Dr. King was, I remember the many prominent signs in Sacramento restaurants in the early '60s saying, "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone." The signs in Sacramento persisted well past the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The law, of course, had nothing to do with business owners having the right to remove unruly customers. It just meant they couldn't refuse customers based on race or other immutable characteristics. "End DEI" is those signs in a different guise.
