Linger Yet Awhile

Of all the ways to call it quits, I like the splat the least.
Limbs all askew, skull cracked in half. And who cleans up the mess?

If vexed enough to end it all, conjure up some class.
Inhale some helium perhaps. Completely painless. Fast.

Have you a car and a garage? That method works as well.
Stay off the train tracks, nothing sharp, forget about a gun

too loud and then the blood, salt and sweet swelling like an estuary.
Speaking of water, Virginia chose wading deep, stones in pockets,

which is quiet, private, reliable, though ugly in the aftermath.
But then, why rush? Your radiant face will fade on its own

and fatal damage will occur with no help from you. For now,
sit with me on this autumn hilltop and feel yourself the queen

of all you survey. "The world is too much with us, late and soon." I know.
I'm asking you, please stay.
