The Worms in My Brain Explain Modern Masculinity

               man can mean wall
but never breath.
               he eats himself like
a communion wafer;
               recursive as the
ideas he is taught.
               the father begets
the son and the son
               eats the idea (father).
it's a disease
               it's a metaphor for itself.
you will be the body or
               the shadow pinned beneath it.
become the poison
               before it kills you.
identity describes
               a wet breath
that hovers behind a wall.
               man is outside right now
flipping your car over
               & howling in the street.
he hasn't written
               anything that wasn't
some kind of war.
               every tool must be
sculpted with flame.
               the forest burns
before you name its flowers.
