Egret

My mother has no modesty
Not with me
When I knock, she spooks, unhappy
Resents privacy
So I enter without warning
She's damp from the shower
Naked
Looking for her socks
Skin pale
Body soft, bent over, crooked
Like a baby bird
Covered in invisible down
I want to feed her tiny bites
Give her feathers
