Christmas celebrations impounded,
the wonder of the season
        shifts—
                hygge takes hold.

While Elvis croons "Blue Christmas,"
I manicure nails with mocking
        gold glitter—
                that shines for no one.

And frankincense mists from diffuser,
when the silver bell rings: Chinese food—
        left outside
                by wise men.

Chopsticks and Netflix pair perfectly
with whiskey runneth over—
        fortune nestled
                in bed.

No glowing yule log needed
to warm this mirthful home:
        toasted already
                by this dumpster fire

of a year.
