Pantoum for my Father

by Janet Rodriguez

Pantoum for my Father

You haven't replied to my email,
tomorrow, I leave for your place;
You might think it blatantly female:
Too emotional and in your face.

Tomorrow, I leave for your place
Where I'll beg you to understand.
Too emotional and in your face:
this line I've drawn in the sand.

I'll beg you to understand
and not let hostilities brew.
This line I've drawn in the sand,
is no pleasure cruise for me or you.

Let's not let hostilities brew;
the days of paper dolls are gone
No pleasure cruise for me or you,
but the indigo sky says we don't have long.

The days of paper dolls are gone,
but you haven't replied to my email.
The indigo sky says we don't have long,
though you might think it blatantly female.
