Poem for Katie, Queen of Ohio #95

I understand the carving
that takes place beneath

the skin, that thins out
those people

that believe in the soul.
I believe in Ohio.

I believe in you.
I believe the animal

you are can be fattened
on the mistakes of Ohio.

I think you'll show your teeth
when you need to.
