In Yancowinna County
galahs flock
to name the vulnerable
who cannot decide on hope or insanity
they are part of a system
drought and diminishing investment
trees that curtsy to domestic struggle
bank loans that summon another untimely deathnothing will stir the blood
except for solid rain
and the sound of a tractor
cutting through a daybreak curd of mist.
