Send us your best work!
We have a soft spot for work that breaks with tradition,
Novella-length curiosities, quasi-fictional encyclopedias,
Collections, catalogs, magical realism, bestiaries,
Stories of a particular tone and tenor, regardless of form.

Gothic doesn't mean depressing!
Make us laugh, cry, think.
If we like it we'll be sure to find a place for it—
We truly believe these stories are worthy of being shared.
It is unlikely that we will read more than 10,000 words.

We make up the rules as we go!
Portrayals of substance abuse are perfectly fine
But somewhere there should also lurk
A sense of playfulness, even glee.
Please adhere to the formatting guidelines.

We want emotionally complex work!
Surprise us, wow us, make us wish we'd written it ourselves.
We support stories of survival and meaning
Rooted in dirt and grass, bone and flesh.
We regret that we are unable to pay our contributors.

We often don't know what we'll like!
We like it simple, weird, and wonderful.
We shape our themes around the work we receive,
creating new forms by dwelling in thought.
We are currently closed to poetry.
