My Belly as an Ocean

When I greeted Samantha
in the breakroom

after a week of lounging in Sandwich,
Massachusetts, I waxed on
about my seafood consumption

so naturally she projected an image
of my belly as an ocean

where the salmon and cod and lobster
I devoured

returned to their native state
in a compressed blue haven

before a net snatched them away,
splayed like a prize
on my dinner plate.
