My Belly as an Ocean
When I greeted Samantha
in the breakroomafter a week of lounging in Sandwich,
Massachusetts, I waxed on
about my seafood consumptionso naturally she projected an image
of my belly as an oceanwhere the salmon and cod and lobster
I devouredreturned to their native state
in a compressed blue havenbefore a net snatched them away,
splayed like a prize
on my dinner plate.
