June's Illusion
June's illusion
of infinite
midsummer swoons
no cricket chirps
corn stands
barely ankle high
phoebes court in airborne
pas de deux
pasture grasses sway
lush with no touch
of August drought
spring-grown clover fills
goat bellies
between naps shaded
by budding oaks
silken circle of iris purples
waking garden
prayerful clematis weaves
heavenward bridge
with pleas that June days
remain
