Double Vision

Since the eye surgery
I see one-plus-one
of everything. Two rivers
on my morning walk
refuse to merge. Geese
with multiple wings
skim the surfaces,
and the dual green verges
hiss with hidden snakes.

Birds in compound
branches of cottonwood trees
toss out quirky snippets
of song. Above wavy blue currents
tandem dragonflies swiftly script
their iridescent mysteries.
Beguiled, I decipher them
in the early light. Twice.
